Easter

Easter came and went really fast for us this year. We had a lot of fun. We didn't go to Utah for the holiday so we spent time with friends.

First off was the library. The city library put on an easter event that was so much fun. I take Nathan to story time every week and I thought it would be fun to see what they put together for the holiday. When we pulled up I almost turned around and went home. The line was out the door and half way around the block. Unfortunately I had been bribing nathan all morning to be good because we were going to see the Easter Bunny. I think Nate sensed my desire to bolt because at that moment he started yelling Easter Bunny. So into the line we went.

After about a half hour of waiting a library employee came out and said if we didn't want to get and Easter basket we could cut ahead and go in. Several people including me decided that this was a good idea. I didn't care if Nate got and Easter basket. I just wanted him to see the bunny. So into the library we went. Well obviously that was a bad idea because people started to get angry because they felt like people were cutting infront of them. So pretty much we lost our place in line to see the easter bunny. I was pretty frustrated at this point but decided that since we were already in the library we should go around to the stations and play the games since the lines were pretty short for all of those. Nate on the other hand was upset because we hadn't seen a bunny yet. Realizing I might get stuck in line again for probably another hour I went to evil mom plan B. That would be to go into the childrens section and find anything that closely resembles a bunny and pass it off to Nathan. Thankfully it worked. ;)

I feel kind of bad but I am pretty sure I would have felt worse standing in line for another hour.
Once the bunny was taken care of Nate gladly went around and played the games. It was a hit and he was very happy with the library Easter party.

On Saturday our wonderful neighbors the Brodricks put on a huge easter egg hunt for the kids in the neighborhood. Sadly I didn't bring my camera but holy cow! There was so much candy and so many eggs it was crazy. Nathan filled his whole easter basket in just a couple of minutes. It was so much fun and we really enjoyed getting to know our neighbors better.

After all of the crazy of Friday and Saturday, Sunday was a very nice break. Church was wonderful. I always look forward to the speakers and the musical numbers. The spirit was strong. It was so nice to put things in focus once again and remember what this time of year is really about.

We decided to have the Easter bunny come after church. This is the family easter basket. There was pleanty of treats for all of us and thankfully now this season of candy is gone. I did not do me any good.

Later in the afternoon we invited a family from our ward over for dinner. It was fun to chat and have the kids run around enjoying the day.

The favorite gift was the bubble maker. Thankfully we had a couple of warm days before more snow hit. I took Nate out and he really enjoyed running around and popping the bubbles. I am pretty sure this will be a regular afternoon activity once the warm weather is here to stay.

I love the holiday seasons because they bring you closer to family and friends. This time of year is special. Like christmas it is really based on our Savior. It can be easy to get caught up in the festivities (especially now that Nathan is really starting to understand what is happening). The partys and Easter Bunnies are good but the reason why we are really here and why we have all of these wonderful things is because our Heavenly Father loves us. He sent his son to die for us so we could gain all that he has. To me the time spent with family and friends is part of the learning process. We celebrate the holidays together because we love eachother. We get a glimpse of what our Father wants us to have. By following our Savior we can always be with one another.

We send our late Happy Easter wishes to all of you. We love you and we hope you know that the Savior loves you too.

Jake, Kristy, Nathan, and Baby
